The place on the north site of house ('Norrsidan') before some 'Hills' was created - how it looked like in March 1997. It was only rocks. I filled a shallow rock-hollow with much soil and shaped "a hill" which I called 'The Windy Hill'; there I have planted later a.o. 2 roses, many perennials and bulbs. Later, on the left, I built 'The Birch Hill'.
Norrsidan i mars 1997. Man ser vilda buskar, ormbunkar och gräs - och bara klippor. Där, på en liten sänka i klippan var skapad 'Vindkullen' och sedan, till vänster - 'Björkkullen'.
Above: 'Björkkullen' ('The Birch Hill') - next door to the 'Vindkullen', to the left of it. So it looked when just created, in the spring 1998. I made it under the birch tree in the same way as 'Vindkullen'. There some roses were planted later, and some perennials as well. Roses: Rosa hugonis, Rosa dumosa wild, but pruned in standard form, Rosa arvensis (not sure, maybe R.rugosa alba, it was found in nature) and R.pimpinelifolia 'Stanwell Perpetual'.
'Björkkullen' - till vänster till 'Vindkullen' var byggd tidig vår 1998 under björken, men trädet står mycket lägre ner, bakom klippan och det finns inte stora chanser att rötterna söker sig till rabatten. Senare var fyra rosor planterade där - de är listade ut ovan, i engelska texten.

'The Windy Hill' ('Vindkullen') just created - October 1997. Some Iris were planted - Iris germanica, Iris Senlac, Iris sanguinica versicolor a.o., and two plants of grass - Festuca glauca. To the right, low, wild Dianthus caesius was planted, moved from some place in the yard. It has white flowers but they came first after ca 2 years, mostly in May 2000.
